Gestalt therapy ðŸ’š

Old habits can hold you back from experiencing fulfilling contact, with yourself and others.

In the safe setting of therapy, I support you in becoming aware of what’s standing in your way and in connecting with what you feel, want and need.

You are not alone: becoming aware of old patterns

Do you find yourself overthinking, struggling with anxiety or low moods? Are you stuck in behaviors that you know are not helping you? Do you sometimes feel like a bystander in your own life? Or does connection with others often feel unfulfilling? You feel either inhibited or like you are too much?

These struggles are often signs of survival strategies. They are adaptations that once protected you, but now hold you back. Unprocessed experiences, unresolved feelings or situations, can make it difficult to freely live in the present.

Gestalt therapy is an experiential form of therapy that helps you become more aware of what you feel, think, and do in the here and now. In contact with me as your therapist, patterns in how you relate to others and the world around you begin to emerge. By pausing together with whatever shows up, also what you might usually avoid, space opens up to become milder to yourself and feel bewonderment.

Therapeutic help

For my work as a therapist and counselor, I studied Western and Eastern philosophy, mindfulness and Gestalt therapy. With these insights I support you in your process to increased awareness. Together we will go explore all the discomfort that arises. My only goal is to help you gain your strength.

Every question is welcome

In my practice, there is room for everything that is on your mind. It is a place where the ordinary and the extraordinary meet: the everyday flow of life, as well as the things you may feel ashamed of. I often work with people who, in one way or another, feel “different from the norm” and who ask themselves: Who am I? How do I want to live? With whom do I want to connect? And what gives my life meaning?

This may involve loneliness, family, work, grief, ageing or facing death, but also living as neurodivergent, LGBTIQ+, questions around sexuality, (queer) relationships, gender identity, taboos, addiction or substance use. I also join you in your exploration when you’re not sure how to move forward, for example in burnout, experiences of loss, depression, midlife crisis or existential anxiety.

In therapy, we explore together how you can find your way, with more gentleness and a sense of wonder towards yourself, and how you can attune to who you are at your core. When there are specific psychiatric difficulties, I can (depending on the situation) offer additional treatment in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.

Step by step to more awareness

Therapy is a careful and attentive process designed to support you in a safe setting with whatever you’re facing at the moment:

  1. Introduction
We start with a free (phone) consultation to get to know each other. You're welcome to share something about your question or concern, but there's no pressure to do so.

  2. Intake
We take a deeper look at your situation, both past and present. You share whatever feels relevant at that moment. We also discuss your expectations regarding the therapy process.

  3. Therapy Sessions
Each session is aimed at expanding your awareness. The focus is on gaining insight into what’s happening within you: in your body, your emotional world, and your thoughts. Over time, we may experiment gently with new ways of responding, to help shift old patterns.

  4. Wrap-up
Together, we reflect on what you’ve gained, where you stand now, and how you’d like to move forward.

Each session is without obligation, meaning you’re free to stop at any time. We continuously reflect on the process so you stay connected to what therapy is offering you.

What you can expect

  • You learn to connect more deeply with your body and emotions in the here and now. This helps to become aware of unconscious patterns.

  • As you become more aware of how you relate to others, you can build relationships in a way that suits you.

  • By exploring and expressing unresolved emotions, you can experience emotional release and relief.

  • You gradually take more responsibility for your choices and behavior, which can lead to a greater sense of freedom and agency in your life.

"The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance"
